i usually think it means Liquidity Service Provider. lightning is based on channels opened between nodes. nodes can only move bitcoin through the LN network based upon the amount of inbound liquidity and outbound liquidity they have.

My biggest annoyances with LN:
1. Invoice model. Can't just blind send.
2. "Could not find path" failures.
3. Can't empty balances.
4. Liquidity/channel management
5. Online only
Cashu and Fedimint ecash solve these five main pain points. Supposedly ecash also has better #privacy, and this improved privacy is what is most often touted, but this is ABSOLUTELY SECONDARY in my opinion to the fact that ecash removes the above five hangups and actually makes bitcoin easy to spend.
Only thing lacking at this time is better tools for users to assess mints.
