I don't think forking is the move; that just balkanizes an already small ecosystem.
It's not what I'm suggesting. It's in the context of the dev being closed, which it's generally not the case.
For your comment, I don't think that a split is possible at this phase. The devs seem to be generally happy with the direction and it's still relatively easy to influence the development.
I'm not sure it's actually that easy to influence development. Just look at how many open PRs are sitting on the NIPs repo. Many have been up for months with little feedback from the repo maintainers.
There's not a clear path for handling and either incorporating or rejecting proposals.
