Bolt12 has improved this. But prior to that, you are right, it wasn’t great.

Have any wallets integrated bolt12?
Yes, these ones have:
- Phoenix
- Zeus
- CoinOS
- Strike
All only provide bolt12 optionally. It's hardly used at all right now.
