I really enjoy my bitcoin wallet setup. Each person has a different set of needs and what works for one may not work for another. I think of mine a stack; starting from the most secure and cold to the most hot:
🔒🔒🔒🔒 Multisig vault ❄️
🔒🔒🔒 Seedsigner singlesig ❄️
🔒🔒 Nunchuk singlesig, secured by a Tapsigner
🔒 Phoenix lightning
Coinos custodial
The multisig vault is collaborative custody. You might be able to guess the institution. This is here for inheritance purposes and to make it easier for my family in case of my demise or incapacitation. I feel very confident in the security model.
My Seedsigner (I love their approach!) is for my non-KYC funds and is the next layer down. Completely cold storage.
Nunchuk + tapsigner might be my favorite part of the stack. Having a physical device to secure bitcoin while enjoying convenience of just tapping an NFC card to the phone to spend is a great UX. I consider this to be my hot on-chain wallet to spend and convert to lightning as needed.
Phoenix is a great lightning wallet. Although I don't love their fees, their UI/UX makes up for it. I'm always looking for a better solution for this part of my stack, but Phoenix is pretty hard to beat.
I don't understand how Coinos makes money. They run a great on-chain and lightning service with low fees. Since it's custodial, I minimize its use, but it has NWC built-in so it works great with nostr. I consider it to be my hottest wallet and don't keep a lot of funds here, but you can't beat the convenience! Use as a PWA but with full app features.
I'm happy to discuss! Tell me what I'm doing wrong!
