Why did you choose not to build with smart contracts?
I'm making some significant changes right now after feedback on the NIP and to deeply integrate #cashu via nutsack wallets (goal being zero setup and perfect anonymity for new users), but this is a decent overview still: https://github.com/vcavallo/catallax-ui

I don't see the need when we can leverage human trust/reputationand basic protocols for so much.
also, there are tons of smart contract solutions out there already. this is an alternative. plus a cheaper, simpler, more open and extednable protocol. If someone wanted to add a smart contract layer on top of this and repackage it as a new system, they could.
smart contracts imply barriers to entry and external dependencies. the world has enough of those already.
