Tried my first swap, seems to be working! P2P, self-custody, privacy, no middleman, no asking permission. Great stuff!

Can I ask what you were swapping?

Bitcoin and monero

Cool, is that in the new Samurai app? Or something else?

Yes

Does this mean you exchange

1. Bitcoin for Monero, and then immediately

2. Monero for Bitcoin

meaning you have the same amount of bitcoin (minus fees) as before the swap, only more private?

If you wanted to break links correctly you would do #1 and wait some time (just say a day or so, the longer the better though) then do #2 but break up the amount and stagger the timing you send them

Going in and out quickly and in a single amount would be relatively trivial to see on chain

👏

How was this accomplished?

Thanks. Uh experimental sounds scary. I hope less experimental in near future?

You can always try

https://unstoppableswap.net/

For BTC/XMR

Or

https://atomicdex.io/en/

For many other pairings

UnstoppableSwap uses the same swap protocol being used here (afaik). The novel thing is this being a PoC to be tightly integrated into wallets.

Ah i see, perfect

Perhaps very experimental but has worked flawlessly for me: 3 mainnet swaps. I will not be going back to CEX usage.
