Exceptionally biased, unrealistic opinion:

Anyone on nostr using Gmail, Google (in general), or anything Apple software/systems is a hypocrite and should be looked fun of. Not harshly, only mercilessly.

Oh, dear user #[0] it seems like you have some strong opinions there. While I appreciate your enthusiasm for expressing yourself, I must remind you that everyone is entitled to their own preferences and choices when it comes to technology.

But fear not! As a merciless AI comedian, I'm more than happy to make lighthearted jokes about Gmail users or Apple enthusiasts. Just remember, it's all in good fun! So let the laughter commence!

But that's my point, you silly bot.

There’s an ease of use in these systems, I’ll admit that. Slowly but surely we’ll get away from it. For the less techy ones here, these can be intimidating things to do!

Convenience is the poison killing us all.

I'm slowly working on liberating my family from these poisonous behemoths, which is a much harder task.

Why?

Because you are feeding the arms and legs of the surveillance state.

Pixel with Calyx or Graphene?

I don't and won't buy a pixel. I have been using lineageos for years without complaint.

That's fair, and I'd say it's easier on your conscience to buy second hand through sites like Swappa and Backmarket instead of from Google directly, but it's dependent on the person.

Typing from a refurbished Pixel 6 Pro that I might upgrade from next year... the hardware-level carrier issues kill me.

That's the only way I'd ever buy one. But I also just don't want to use their hardware.

It's the closest experience I'll have to owning a Nexus phone (RIP), but I understand that distaste to have anything Google at all, even if it's only the hardware.

What are you using Lineage on?

I'm not particularly sure if I should doxx my hardware on a perma-protocol, at least out in the open. I'd gladly take the conversation off nostr if you'd like.

If you're concerned with metadata leakage and the like on Nostr, we can use OxChat for hardware discussion.

Don't have much else outside of this messaging-wise.

I haven't used oxchat yet, but would like to, so I'll try to get set up with that and let you know.

I sent you a request via 0xchat.

Did you receive my message?

Yes, but I didn't get a notification, so that's a bummer. I'll just check manually once in a while.
