Some of this may be time sensitive to bitcoin culture and ethos. If the bull market rips and we're all telling people to self-custody, we will look insane if on-chain withdraw looks prohibitively expensive. This happened before and it led to a very protracted conflict about blocksize. Incredibly stressful.

Yeah. You are right about that. It’s a pain in the ass. But it also incentivises development. We will have high tx fees on the base layer at some point in the future and we need solutions before it happens
Yes that is exactly rhe problem. People thought we had time to implement and improve L2L/L3. But that was assuming orcanic growth in the kinds of transactions we were used to seeing. Unfortunately, ordinals has prematurely caught us in a position where our pants are down and Nome of the L2 or L3 shit is nearly where it needs to be.
