Unity in Christ should trump all other allegiances and associations.

What if a Christian brother or sister shows up to hear the glorious gospel, and sees the flag of a belligerent nation flying behind the pulpit? How large a stumbling block have you just cast in their already difficult path?

Get those flags OUT of the sanctuary. Leave that nonsense at the door, and repent.

I like your original suggestion better. Keep all the tribal baggage outside the sanctuary, promote unity in Christ.

It’s okay to still have some degree of loyalty to things like tribe, culture, and especially family, but all those things need to be subservient to Christ.
