When a relationship ends, even if it was mostly due to the actions of one party, I think the other party should do a 'post-mortem,' as they may have contributed to the demise, even if it was in a smaller way.

Regardless of who was to blame, I think everyone needs to do some introspection to prevent baggage from carrying over to the next relationship - unless you want to punish the next guy for the actions of those who came before him!
