This is true. You are not to love any of those people more than Christ. This is what that means.
Well the nice the about ancient religious texts is you interpret them to have any meaning you want. My interpretation is it's a means of control, your friends and family may try and talk you out of a cult, but if you are instructed that you have to love the cult more...
I think it means Christ came to send a message that divides light from dark. If you are not hiding your light, the first to try to extinguish it will be your own parents.
