This mint will indefinitely be set to peg-out only due to recent decisions regarding regulatory requirements and various compliance. Please redeem your ecash tokens soon, as the mint may be shut down at some arbitrary future date without notice.
Theoretically any failed mintings will complete after the bug is fixed.
Peg-ins have not been working since I upgraded the mint to the latest lnbits-cashu extension 0.5. I've set to peg-out only until this is fixed.
AI and robots free up human time for more meaningful jobs. Mankind will be more wealthy, not less, because to a laborer money represents goods. AI will lower the cost of goods, not raise them. The more goods there are available, the more goods the equivalent sum of money will command. Therefore, regardless if wages decline, human labor will be valued for tasks that AI cannot do. These are creative and inventive jobs. We will see a separation of labor from skill, and artisinal goods made by human hands or "proof of work" from a human mind will be far valued above anything created by a machine. The machines will provide our sustinence, and this will be for a very low cost because it will only involve commodities (things mass-produced) where humans will provide little value to assembly lines. People will be needed to perform investigative, creative, mental skill oriented tasks like troubleshooting the machines, like creating one-of-a-kind goods like hand-made items where human error and variation is a feature and increases an item's value. One observation I heard recently is that art, music, actors, and the like are values not for their perfection, but for its human authenticity. This is not something that can be emulated by an AI until it actually becomes the same as a human, including our limited and closely guarded ability to reproduce.
If the mint is eating your sats, please contact me and we can work through it
I've identified a problem with peg-ins. Its a bug in the cashu plugin itself. LN payments should still work fine
Isnt that exactly what they did witg gold and greenbacks?
Which is more important to you in a cashu mint?
Low fees, or reliability?

STPI cashu mint fees are finally working as intended! I presently have them set to LSP+0.25%. My LSP charges around 1% depending on the destination.
Mint on!

Looks like I may have figured it out. Now I understand why there is a fee reserve. I set the fee to 0.25% and set the reserve to 2%/2sat and now it applies the backend fees properly
Someone transfered 10ksat through my mint and it took more out than it needed as fixed fees
No its the fees implementation. Seems to require a reserve. Im still experimenting
I'm noticing exorbitant fees being charged on some cashu to lightning payments. Contact me with a lightning payment proof and I will reimburse you with cashu.
The fees are not being passed through from the LSP as I originally thought. I'm seeing examples of 1.75%. I'm moving the fee back up to cover the coat. If you feel youre being overcharged, contact me and I can double check for you and reimburse you if it turns out to be off base. I will probably need to modify the lightning invoicing system to make it work the way I want so I can keep fees low.

The dollar has been a cbdc since the early 90's.
There is no benefit to the banks or the government to make the ledger public, and nobody wants their banking life to be public to their neighbor, aunt, or corporate competition. No the CBDC will not be a public ledger. The CIA, FBI and every other government agency already havs full visibility to our financial life, whether its publiclly known or not. The CBDC is a psyop, one to make us fear the government and their power over us. They only have it if we give it to them by buying into the idea they even have the capacity to enact the controls we fear. Its also "thinking past the sale" to think the CBDC will give them a new power they already have but don't want us to be aware of.
Cashu mint update!
I learned this new LSP conveys network fees before it generates an invoice. I dropped outgoing mint fees to 0.5% + LSP/LN fees. This may be the lowest cost public mint there is!

I see random connections to relays I've never set and also attempts to connect to onion relays that won't work on my machine. Am I the only one?
Connecting to random relays, including onion addresses, could be the result of the gossip/outbox model. Are they trying to implement this?
