i'm confused, this is you?

This is the conversation, solutions are offered, it's not just one note.

Yes it was, but it does mean also that the LN protocol is flawed and should be re-built from scratch as far as i understood and obviously this is never going to happen. Question is, where do we go from here should his opinion be 100% irrefutable?

And what about El Salvador? Would be a big impact. What I understand they use it much....
Lightning may be just an experiment that needs to break in order to get to a better solution. Bitcoin doesn't need lightning. Nostr does, for now. Other kinds of layer-2 solutions will be created, I think it's probable many kinds will survive.
Everything built on top of Bitcoin are experiments and i agree. Startups with 99% chance of failure. However, LN is not just good for Nostr, almost 6000 BTC committed into the protocol, thousands of nodes, merchant network is also growing while at infancy, a growing number of Bitcoin companies with their business models depending on LN to succeed and a sovereign nation using it.
If LN has critical errors, then competent devs should join forces and focus on improving on what is already built rather than build or improve communication protocols.

I agree, but I don't want to be head strong about lightning. It might be scalable if enough brilliant people work on it, but as long as lightning hasn't scaled it might someday be replaced by something more efficient.
Then you will also agree for the same possible fate regarding Nostr.
I just believe that scaling Bitcoin payments is a priority over communication and LN while probably flawed is still a beautiful idea worth the time of all the many brilliant devs i see everyday on Nostr.

Incentives and consistency matter, but differently for each protocol.
i see. if i remember correctly, he seems to have always had a bitcoin/lightning independent ideology of the future of the #nostr protocol. imo yes as the creator his ideology is important, but #nostr + ln & btc is more important. that's my 2 sats 💜
I’m pretty sure he’s a big drivechain supporter too. I love the adversarial thinking, but you’re free to share a different opinion than him.
Lightning is clunky, and there are lots of concerns of edge case protocol failures, but ultimately it is a tool which can potentially 10x Bitcoin scaling. I’m going to keep using it until there is more evidence of plausible critical flaws.
Calling out problems with things everyone thinks is great is cool, but we need solutions to the payments problem. Until a better solution with less complexity or better security is suggested, Lightning must continue to be developed and improved upon.
I think there is plenty of time to solve all of these problems. There's a difference between what payment solutions people need and what they are actually using, until then on chain will work as a store of value. The market for fees will supply an ongoing incentive to find a solution for payments.
No i am just quoted in there
