To a degree, at least!

I’m thinking about the (very blurry) line between marketing and engagement farming - isn’t the latter just a style of the former?

If a brand that I’m slightly interested in is willing to pay me to learn about them, that feels like a choice I have the power to make as a financial actor

If I have no interest in the brand, then my attention isn’t worth the sats (or I’d require more compensation).

Not saying I’ll “sell out” my attention as a general rule, but the user should have the choice.

I much prefer this to the “you have no real control over what ads you see or which advertisers track you” model

Oh yeah I completely agree with you!! & I’ll def add that some ppl are selling their attention for a couple sats rn to repost someone’s agenda which they might not even fully understand yet, which is why I’m saying that type of engagement farming isn’t as valuable for the participants as it is for the creator, but they’ve yet to see that.. they instead as participants in the protocol should be encouraged to provide their own value in whatever way is most genuine to them and receive value for that.. it’s the way

Definitely - the participation & creating value of your own is the core here 🎯

I’ve definitely noticed the differences too - “repost and like for sats” versus something like the posts that have a playful nature and sats rewards

Very interesting point you made about who gets the most value from it, too. I wonder how long it will take to find a market equilibrium there. Especially with satoshis so criminally undervalued right now 😂
