i hate it because of the rabid #monero fanatics who are here on #nostr who seriously don't understand that pseudonymity is enough and you can't have #lightning on a monero style ledger, because of its "security"

lightning moves way more value already than #monero, hell, the number of open channels exceeds its market cap

and with a little more energy devoted to this task, #lightningnetwork could be more private than monero ever could be

Bold statement.

How would you know that lightning moves more value than Monero? You can't see amounts being moved around on Monero, so how would you compare...and are you saying we can naively see amounts moving on the super private Lightning Network? (although large routing nodes, custodial wallets, and LSPs can see the wider picture).

We can see a crude comparison of mcap (Moneros ~$3 Billion) vs capacity (LN $200 million)

Ok, well let us know when that happens. And when it gets all the bad sovereign UX shit sorted out which is another huge problem. Until then we'll keep using what actually works right now not waiting for some hazy future. When/if we see Darknet Markets start adopting LN that is the canary telling us to switch.
