Any thoughts on how relay hardware infrastructure is going to develop from here on? I think this part is crucial

It's a good question. Twitter does petabytes per day. “Free” is out of the question long term, if nostr is successful. There will be monetization, one way or another.

Definitely, now the difficult part is how to scale relay hardware without compromising free speech and preventing censorship.

It will have to scale out. It can also scale up, but that will become centralized. Scaling out won't be centralized, but it also won't be visible outside of the bubble.

It's just the trilemma again.
