Why do some peoples have a circle checkmark and others a person checkmark on Damus? What’s the difference?
Sorry to ask all these lame questions! I just want to understand so I can explain things better I’m the design guide!

If you are on 1.5 App Store release, the circle check means they have nip05 verification(nostr address) and the person checkmark means you follow them, there’s a few different person checkmarks. One means you follow them, one means they follow you, and one means you follow each other. If you are on 1.6 TestFlight, the circle checkmarks will not show up in the feed, they will only load if you go into someone’s profile.
For example, you can see i do not follow orange bill, there is no icon after his username, the others i do follow

Okay so I think you are on 1.5 App Store version, the reason this is happening which will prioritise the nostr address check mark in the feed/post views, even if you follow them. The behaviour has changed in new versions of 1.6 (not out yet) because it was using up way too much bandwidth. So for now you will see the circle check, but when 1.6 is out you will see the following person icon, even if they have a nostr address, until u tap on their profile
Just when I think I figured something out it seems to change. Livin on the edge.
I think showing a badge for nip05 verification is a bit like showing a badge if someone has a gmail address 🙈 Iris shows them based on follow distance / known followers.
On Iris I see a checkmark which was not obvious to me what it meant until I hovered over it on desktop. On mobile (web) I have to click through the profile to see clearly that I follow them.
Feels like a decent solution but not 100% scam-proof.
What about starting off with a full “following” label with an option to toggle to show checkmark only?
And some others have ⚡️and some have ⭐️
Can I ask, where is the design guide? I am brand new, would love to learn more!
