Right? But apparently people don't think that far. All I see is "I'll smash buy BTC!"
At best, the money retained by the govt can only address interest on the debt. The $5,000 to 153m taxpayers comes to $765b. It would do virtually nothing to address the debt.
The Fed needs to be ended and the debt canceled. If they want to discount my taxes by 5k this year, fine, but the solution is a govt overhaul, elimination of the IRS and elimination of the central bank and debt based money creation.
I agree and they should do all of that but without throwing around more free money.
But is it free money if they've been robbing us? I'm certainly not placated by this, but my view is that it isn't enough to just do the things above. I want the govt to do something to make me whole. I get that will never happen, but if I get something back I can put into bitcoin, it will help.
The 2.5k they gave me in 2020 is worth 15-20k now.
It's their debt, not "ours". Not a single individual outside of gov and institution had any say in borrowing money.
