I've experienced that with Netflix but usually all I need to do is change servers and it will swallow it.
What's even stupider is what Max/HBO does in Spain: very often it will simply refuse to give me English subtitles if the original voiceover is English, and in other cases, I will not provide an original version and force a Spanish-dubbed version on me. I have talked to their customer service countless times, and they don't even acknowledge the problem. Last time it got so frustrating that I finally said enough is enough.
I had these subscriptions because my wife insisted, for her ease of use so she could watch stuff without my "assistance" (especially when we're not in the same place at the same time, which happens relatively often). But she has finally surrendered to evidence, which is good a good outcome anyhow.
