#Heltec v3 #meshtastic users, where you at? I'm trying to figure out why the amber light keeps coming on with one of my two units. I am having some message delivery problems, but I am not sure if they are related.

It's plugged in via USB-C and there's no battery connected to the back, so it's certainly not charging a battery, despite what some reddit users report the amber light meaning.

My other unit has a blinking white LED and it is being powered by a lithium-ion rechargable battery (NOT via USB-C). This one is working as expected.

Answers that cite some documentation that I can't seem to find will get a healthy zap. ⚡

Not sure if this corresponds with what you are seeing with the LEDs? It looks like the detection of battery charging is not accurate on the Heltec boards which could trigger it to indicate that it is charging even when there is no battery connected.

That looks like a different light pattern. I'm seeing the amber light on solid, not a "1 second on, 1 second off" blink.

If it's 1 second on, 1 second off when charging, I'm not sure what the amber light means...

Is it the LED heartbeat? You can disable that in settings:

The quick white light appears to be the heartbeat. Not sure what the deal is with this amber light.

I was able to track down an official source about what the amber light is about. It does think it's charging a battery. There is no battery attached.

So maybe that's just a red herring and not causing my issues after all?

I'm going to slap a battery on that node so I can do some basic testing. Once I'm familiar with battery operated mode, I can re-test powering it directly from a USB cable.
