In school? Not a chance. But if the parents really are abusive then surely the kid can climb out a window and snitch to a neighbor or something. The fact that the approach by this school was so indirect and deceptive makes me wonder if they truly believed that the parents were abusive, or if they truly saw the kid as a separate person capable of making independent choices.
