Unfortunately, I have to agree with Andrew Yang here.

Basically every UBI enthusiast ever: "The people gave governments too much power, so governments robbed them of their time, money and productivity growth with inflation and taxation. We need to give total control to governments, so they can fix the issue."

They always appeal to emotion: "What are the people going to do when AI takes their jobs? The government has to save them with magic money (that will be used against them).".

Is there an alternative that doesn't involve giving governments total control? (Bitcoin as money -> Productivity growth -> deflation -> everything drops to the marginal cost of production over time - as Jeff Booth has talked about)

These UBI enthusiasts never address what happens after everyone starts receiving conditional, magic, programmable money and practically giving governments more power than they've ever had in an age of the most advanced technology we've ever had.

The technocrats (Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, etc) are presented as an alternative to big government, and they are - a much worse, more competent and more difficult to avoid form of government.

The idea that you can give everyone money and everyone will be able to afford food, shelter, bills, etc is just a fairy tale.

What I think will happen is that these UBI slaves will have a very low quality of life, whereas Bitcoiners will have a high quality of life.

The system will vilify Bitcoiners, presenting them as evil, greedy speculators who have destroyed currencies to enrich themselves with Bitcoin.

Companies like MicroStrategy will be nationalized to "improve" the quality of life of UBI slaves (but really to strengthen failing currencies).

Don't you want to help your fellow citizens, mr Bitcoiner? We'll convert your MSTR shares to magic UBI money that you can spend on soy burgers and fluoride supplements.

Maybe we can have a referendum and have the UBI slaves vote on whether we should steal the Bitcoin from your Bitcoin stocks. Don't you like Democracy?

Maybe we can have a referendum on making Bitcoin illegal and forcing all holders to sell their Bitcoin to the government for magic UBI money to strengthen the currency. You don't like Democracy? Why are you such a communist?

The solution of course is self-custody Bitcoin and not being a bitch.

The people at the top, with access to the money printers are unfortunately not stupid. They are going to explode the Bitcoin price (in fiat terms) in a very short period of time and then they'll paint Bitcoiners as evil speculators.

To me it's the scariest future scenario among the most probable ones.

The Huxley + Orwell world. 🫣

In my darkest dreams I prefer AI takeover / Nuclear War to this one.

A quick death by rogue tech is better than full techno-slavery.
