If mom still wants to work and pay for child care, that’s fine! But the choice to stay home and raise the family and household was removed (which is a TON of work), that’s the problem. Corporations saw 2 for the price of 1, convinced us it was progress.

That’s what I was goong to say. That’s the main force. So the state said “fuck it, both parents will need to work or we won’t be able to debase the currency.”

Mostly agree. It is the thought and pursuit of being also (financially) independent from the partner. Which could make sense in a lot of cases imo, however we now have a society where care-work and stay at home moms or even part-time jobs is frowned upon.
