Server fatigue is real. On platforms like Mastodon, admins sometimes just delete servers, wiping out whole communities

nostr:npub108pv4cg5ag52nq082kd5leu9ffrn2gdg6g4xdwatn73y36uzplmq9uyev6 explains how nostr offers a promising future for new communities, eliminating the risk of disappearing servers, in BR079.

This is a great pod.

Unless you self host yes. Still a long way to go to build communities here.

And yet it's somehow still more decentralized than Nostr, where users tend to flock to few big relays. I know that Alex is striving to solve this problem, but there's a really long way ahead.

Also there's "nomadic identity" feature in ActivityPub, which is being actively developed. So who knows... I think it's too early for laughs.

I had not heard about the nomadic identity development until today. If fully implemented, that would be a big step forward for the Mastodon folks. Alas, it still doesn't give seamless movement from one client to another like Nostr, but it's still a move in the right direction.

The questions are, how long will it take to develop and how many server hosts will fully implement it?
