If you're squatting for quad development you're wasting a lot of time and energy

Lol, that’s definitely not my motivation

If you're trying to injure your spine they're a great exercise :)

man how come you're telling me this after I started having low back pain post squat exercising

Stop doing them, try cable squats instead, loading the spine is foolish. Squats are great, just not traditional squats

You don't even need weights to develop quads. Sissy squats are a great exercise you can do anywhere, just lower your knees in front of you near to the ground and push back up, you feel the burn. The operating lever of your quads (lower leg tib & fib) need to be perpendicular with the direction of resistence to fully engage the muscle. Traditional squats only activate quads about 25% which is why you can pile so much weight on ... there's no leverage, but increased risk of injury

Squats are the KING of all movements. It’s not just your quads, but everything from the soles of your feet to the base of your neck is pushed. It is solid core development.

Keep going, king.

Also, you dropped this πŸ‘‘

Squats are extremely useful. Until about age 30+ I did almost exclusively lower-body development due to taekwondo, and my upper body neglect hardly manifested in overall "functional strength" due to just how much you can do with your legs.

Also allowed me to get fat without noticing because I could still do jump spin kicks, so there's that LOL

This is the way.

Love squats. One of my favorite movements. The heavier the better.

Ego training lol greater risk of injury for next to no additional benefit

You do realize that squats are a total body workout right? If you're only pumping your quads, you're doing it wrong.

Total body workout? As in, all your body moves? Ok. But barely any muscles actually elongate and contract, which is how muscles grow and become stronger. Dynamic is far superior to any isometric for muscle development, without exception. How, if its an all body workout, is loading the spine with weights a good bicep workout compared to dumbell curls??? Now do that for every other muscle is this 'all body workout'. If you simply want to burn calories and enjoy that exercise then great, happy days, however, thats not the best way to work an individual muscle group for the legs. Time, efficiency, risk, energy, biomechanics - all factors to consider here.

What's ego training?

Lifting heavier than neccesary because youre in 'beast mode' and want to impress others, for example lol. Not sure theres an exact description but you should get the premise.

Hi, maybe I wasnt clear. Squats are great, just not TRADITIONAL squats where the spine is loaded. You can do individual muscle groups way better than compound.

Pushed compressed, exactly, terrible to load the spine like that. You can do individual muscles safer and better. Your toes dont need training lol
