Lowery amassed a lot of staunch haters on Twitter while he was developing his thesis and later promoting the book. Guy came from the military, said Bitcoin was a new form of violence, etc. basically being and doing things that libertarian-minded people didn't like. But his ideas about Bitcoin are solid, and not a lot of people can attack the thesis without resorting to ad hominem attacks on his person or strawmen arguments unrelated to the contents of the thesis.

thanks but that doesnt seem to quite fit with the vibe I am getting from the CBP guys...

I could be mistaken but it seemed to me they were talking about a specific action or event , and it seemed recent ...

Maybe it was just that they think the banning was a publicity move?

If you link to the episode, I can try to give you some more context about what they're talking about. If I know, that is.

Lowery also did social experiments on Twitter with the block feature to demonstrate how you can wield abstract power to disrupt online communities. People thought his calls for the military to stockpile Bitcoin was an attack to concentrate power in the hands of the current elites. The bottom line is that you could throw a stone and find a reason to hate the guy.

So first you had to not hate the guy. Then you had to understand what he was talking about. Being a Lowery fan involved a lot of work. And those were the people he wanted to interact with.

that would be a hunt - reason i couldnt decipher is because they were like passing comments...

anyway , i had the feeling this book would be a must read and seemed important - just wanted to know what was up their butts...

No problem. Most people have moved on from the hype. But the book is still a good read. I recommend it.
