Containers make me sad also. It's like people gave up and started throwing everything into a box and hope it works enough times.
I know it's not the same thing, but have you tried Guix? Depending on what you're looking for, it might be a better solution.
I haven't tried that. I'll check it out.
I am only using it so that I can make this signer app easy for the most people to install and run. I've put of learning anything about dockerfile's and docker compose until now but seems like I just have to bit the bullet.

I’ll take you up on that! Going to record a demo tomorrow of the app and hope to get some docker/podman (nostr:npub1arkn0xxxll4llgy9qxkrncn3vc4l69s0dz8ef3zadykcwe7ax3dqrrh43w) start9/umbrel contributions for deployments.

got half way through a ‘docker build’ when the ssd on this old macbook ran out of space 😂
