What's nostr:nprofile1qqs8l7cf847rw8vkkhta7v8faa066r5le7dds8tgnau7ng2d74ey2cgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhszrnhwden5te0dehhxtnvdakz7qgnwaehxw309ac82unsd3jhqct89ejhxtcymzaec and the #Olas365 challenge?

Olas is a Nostr-powered alternative to Instagram by nostr:nprofile1qqs04xzt6ldm9qhs0ctw0t58kf4z57umjzmjg6jywu0seadwtqqc75spz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszxnhwden5te0wpuhyctdd9jzuenfv96x5ctx9e3k7mf0dv4ph5. The focus is on community, creativity, and real value for value exchanges, instead of doomscrolling, advertisements, and ever changing algorithms that you'll find on Meta's platform. If you've wanted "Nostrgram" or Nostr for Instagram, it's here.

The #Olas365 challenge is simple, really. To participate in the challenge, all you need to do is post one image daily throughout 2025. The goal is to have fun and promote creativity, all the while creating a rich repository of content on Olas for all to enjoy.

To get started, you're going to need to download and install the Olas app on your phone as https://olas.app is not ready for posting just yet. Here are the links:

Android: https://github.com/pablof7z/olas/releases/ or download from nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgzqtdq0

iOS: https://testflight.apple.com/join/2FMVX2yM

When posting on Olas, be sure to select the 'high quality post' option. This will allow the images to be posted via the new kind:20 image type, adding them to the "Olas feed" or "Olas Gallery" in other Nostr supported apps! At this time, these applications include: Amethyst, Nostrudel, and Nostur (soon Primal)!

Please remember that Olas is still very early and bugs do exist!

i.e. On Android, some UI issues exist with formatting on comments, the user profile, the settings page, and several places where dialog boxes have issues with dark mode. iOS seems to be fairly solid in terms of UI.

does olas wipe the img metadata by default (or is it an option)?

Always wipes it

You have the option to add a geotag to the event for later when I add search by geographic region.

The geotag precision is reduced to between 600 to 800 meters.

But yeah, the exif metadata is always wiped locally before uploading anything.

so glad. thank you!

Could a slider or something for possitional resolution be a thing? Perhaps with rough markers like 'precise, city, province, country, continent' markers? How hard would it on the other end to interpret/handle all those various sized strings.

If that is too difficult to manage, you'd have to compare to some list of 'locations' with coordinates for cities, provinces etc, though it would result in weird clusters of stuff all being in 1 particular location which could look weird.

Ok im done thinking about this, nvm

Yes, it's definitely possible, I've got it on my todo list to put a slider that allows changing the level of precision.

Yes. There was a bug with this on iOS a few weeks back, but that's been fixed.
