For the last decade or so, light roast coffees with high acid and tea-like clarity have become popular.
IMHO they taste like feces that has gone sour.
I prefer medium roast classico Italian espresso... the stuff that tastes like coffee.

Agreed ‘cept I wouldn’t know sour feces from sweet (?). Dark coffee has less caffeine, too, besides tasting better.
Some of them are nice, to be sure. Light, fruity notes and the like. But without a full body the brew runs the risk of tasting too watery, when the full-bodied taste is the exact reason I prefer coffee over tea, to begin with.
Some of my favorites are the coffees described as being "winey," since they have lots of complexity but still a full body.

With you on this 100%. coffee that tastes like coffee is coffee. Fruit punch should stay fruit punch.
