What you're describing is a real and well-documented demonstration of neural plasticity and cognitive rigidity. There is a neat way to test yourself, and even train yourself to be less rigid

Fold your hands together normally interfacing your fingers.

Now switch (Move the top hand’s fingers one position to the right (or left) so the other hand’s fingers are now on top.

It feels very foreign. This is your brain being exposed to something new.

Keep switching until is feels normal in either position to increase your cognitive plasticity.
