I am starting my daily notes today. My goal is to do one daily note and a good morning post a day for a full year.

That's our european masonry stove. My wife and I built it back in 2006.

If you asked me to explain "proof of work" (a Bitcoin term) to a 3rd grader, I probably couldn't at this point. A good indicator I don't fully understand it.

Yet it feels to me this might be a good example of proof of work.

The stone we collected from the old barn that once stood where our house is now. The mortar we bought at County Concrete in Rice Lake, a small town 40 miles south of us.

There were two brothers that worked the yard at the time. I carry mail with their sister now. She shares stories with me about them on occasion.

One of them almost didn't make it through Covid. They put him on a ventilator. He has breathing problems to this day. He farms and works for a local implement as a mechanic.

We were going to buy pork sausage from a pig he was going to have butchered. Then the pig died of affilixiation along with a couple other ones. His son let the tractor run too long in the building the pigs were in. Too much carbon monoxide presumed.

That's it for this note. Talk to you tomorrow.

What a beautiful centerpiece to your home!

Thank you! It holds up our earth roof. It keeps us warm and dry. We have a dependence on it. πŸ™

I have never seen a stove like that, it beautiful! Looks like something that will last for generations.

Thank you! We are hoping it will. πŸ™

Awesome! Good job πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Thank you! πŸ™

You're welcome! πŸ™

Rip piggies. Thanks for sharing.

Very pretty, much prettier than the rocket mass heater I built 3 years ago that heats our house!

Curious, how often and how long you run it for. Buy wood or just cut/find it? Too cheap for us to not buy Amish sawmill trimmings, near our house... $10 gets about 1/3 cord of wood, enough for a winter easily. 😊

Thank you! We burn bundles of slab wood. We burn wood 7 to 8 months out of the year. πŸ”₯

Proof of work is a beautiful thing.

You understand proof of work :)

Nice! Wish we would have done something like this. How well does it work?

Works great. We've been keeping warm for 20 years with it! πŸ”₯

Wow. This is amazing. Unbelievable proof of work.

I’ve loved seeing the photos of the fire in the morning, but now to see the entire stove is a real treat. I look forward to the good morning posts this year!

Thank you! It's going to be a good year!

I’m going to do my best to make it a good year for my family.

That is good to hear. πŸ™
