I'm surprise that we don't have many porn / pedo bot on nostr.
The most annoying ones yet are the ai reply bots.
I mean it's not that bad, i hope it stay like that, is there a way on nostr relays or clients to stop or prevent posting weird or illegal content ? Or the users have to do it themselves, mute bad accounts one by one ?
the irony is nostr encourages npubs to be uncancellable, pedos take advantage of the perceived loophole and ruin it for the greater good. the almighty zuck is saying you see now
It's not surprising at all to me. If someone wants to post child pornography then text based notes aren't very good for that. At the moment, Nostr's image hosting functionality is fairly centralized and moderated, though I've heard some people who want to change this.
Personally, I hope this doesn't happen. If Nostr has to move to Tor, or if people end up accidentally committing crimes during normal browsinf (fetching child pornography in order to display in notes) then those would be huge barriers toward Nostr's growth and adoption.
There are alreadly platforms capable of hosting child pornography without getting taken down. I think there is no need for Nostr to become a decentralized, censorship resistent media host.
