Can’t notes be used as backup metadata for all the layers (not just media servers).

As gossip-model helps with relay decentralisation the same note breadcrumbs for rest of the layers? DNS might be tougher nut to crack.

Beyond expanding relays beyond text with multimedia support, there needs to be a way to find which relays host a note that’s missing in replies. This way people can post their notes to various relays and you can discover where it is with the note hash. Otherwise, everyone is going to crowd around the same relay — or relays are going to have to sync everything, which raises costs dramatically.

Relay syncing is great, but it’s not our only path to improving discovery. NIP-65 is a step in that direction, but it’s still just blind gossip — there will be better ways.

I’m working on an idea that might be able to provide this better path to content discovery, but it’s still preliminary. Not sure if it’ll work yet. Will put more time into it once our paper on implementing Merkle DAG Trees into Nostr and Robin’s Bitstream paper are released.

Also, being able to find all of someone’s notes by just using their pubkey would be nice too… same idea.
