Government totalitarianism is slowly but steadily advancing everywhere in the most odd domains of the economy and our lives as we speak. In Brazil, for example, gas stations all over the country are being forced to install expensive government-certified computers that issue tax receipts automatically as soon as the fuel leaves the pump.

As money becomes tighter and the fiat crisis plays out, we can expect no less.

Exit the system

The trend is horrible. Soft totalitarianism will be very hard to fight. It's just part of ppls lives. Like soft KYC.

people are so fucking used to it too

here in spain they ask you for your ID for EVERYTHING, to fucking deliver a package, to go to the doctor, anything -- when you push back and you tell them you're not willing to give them that info they look at your like they've never received push back... it's insane

Ppl are busy with their lives, and trying to escape the salary-life-bullshit as is. Adding more to their cognitive load is unreasonable.

We need to make the tools of freedom as insidious/covert as the tools of oppression.

Yeah, fair 🤝

We need to make converting to the Bitcoin Standard as simple as possible.

This.

And to, somehow, make the masses understand that it is the choice of money that is the worse offender to happiness, freedom, and even social contracts.

It's not about taxes, more than enabling totalitarianism, that is the core issue.

Don't use their money via banking/cc

Don't use their money via cash

Exit fiat.

That last line. Damn that hits hard.

It’s not just that people are busy. That’s true, but many people are just adult children who want someone to take care of them. They don’t want responsibility.

You can see it in the political fights. It’s not right vs left. It’s personal independence vs dependence. It’s probably the 80-20 rule and not matter how easy the independence tools are, only a minority of people will use them.

That’s why I’m hopeful about tools like Fedimint. Give people the dependence they crave while supporting independence for us all.

I’ve been 3 years in Poland and no one ever asked me id for anything. I could be illegal here and nobody would care. I haven’t been to doctors though.

They are* very hard to fight.

Lula, Macron, Trudeau, Biden and most western leaders of the world are already soft dictator and were all (re)elected democratically. This shit is going fast.

Democracy had a good run, it's been fully pwn. Had not security patches. We need the next experiment. bitcoin should change things as we take back the money printer power.

Meant to quote tweet this, but you can’t undo a retweet here.

It is because these “leaders” are elected by shadowy non-democratic power structures. It is why these puppets hide behind the word democracy so much. place, when at least in the U.S. we are not a democracy

Everyone on top want to be a dictator be it biden or trump

disgusting

where I spend most of the time each year, a small island, there are no traffic lights, I think I've seen cops one time (just at the dentist); people generally lead lives where there is no presence of the state.

there are still pockets that escape the state in rural areas

DM me pls id like to live there🙏😂

Yea I'd like to know where that is too.

Where pls?

any small greek island

Im open to learn about alternatives or a way out of this madness.

You’re at the right place ✌️

In Iran gas stations work with a card on the name of the car owner that has the limited gas/petrol lower price portion registerd in it.

If you want to use more you have to buy it with the station card for a higher price.

The Bloody November was triggered over a sudeen increase in those prices.

They will demand their share of your earnings. Socialists like to waste other people's money for their own ideologies.

It's way beyond that already.

government = parasit.

Wtf

the most important thing for a government is to see everything

When I was in Brazil during the pandemic, the oddest thing was other people angry at me because I was running outside without a mask. Yep, outside. In a park. That wasn’t a respiratory disease; it was an authoritarian mind virus, making everyone little dictators.

don't use cars - in fact I don't even have a driving license! Problem solved!

So… you're just walking or cycling *everywhere*? You'd never go by a bus, or a taxi? You'd rather die to avoid calling an ambulance? You'll always carry your new refrigerator/washing machine/stove/bed/wardrobe home on your back?

Cool.

In this environment, people and businesses need to stop following laws. If nobody gets hurt by ignoring a law, then it should be ignored.

Those tax receipt printers are the most evil thing I've ever seen. They're not only overbearing, they're also amazingly patronizing.

Yes. Why tax me? Just print money!

inflation?

History repeats itself. During the downfall of every dynasty, rampant corruption and absurd events become commonplace. While we mock the irrationality of it when reading history books and ask why it happened, similar events are repeating themselves in the modern era. In due time, the present will also become someone's history to be remembered.

Bureaucracy and totalitarianism go hand in hand. The film "Brazil" exposes this very well.
