One of the most aggravating things about it is that clicking on anything is slow. It takes several seconds to go from home to notifications, or private messages.
The interface is also too narrow on desktop, so a way to kill two birds with one stone might be to do a two column interface like this if there's enough room:

Oh cool, I had no idea this existed.
Needs work and customization but it’s a start!
It’s also missing a post composer. You can reply but you can’t make your own post without switching to single column.
