argh. a few years ago i had a vision test because things were getting blurry at a distance and i wanted glasses for night driving.

i have one pair of glasses.

i think maybe i should get another, maybe sunglasses, or just a backup.

but i cant find the paperwork of the prescription level, and i dont want to have to setup an appointment, pay for an exam and buy overprived lenses and frames as thats easily $200-300

anyone have recommendations

Can't help you on the exam part but I have saved quite a bit buying glasses online thru Zenni Optical

Get the exam! Your eyes are so important - and I promise it’s worth knowing all about your eye health. Then try getting really keep online frames. Kits.ca in Canada is super cheap.

This! It’s worth getting the exam periodically even with good vision

I haven’t found a glasses store that will accept a prescription over a year old. They consider it expired. Also your prescription can change over time. I think you may just have to buckle down and get a more current eye exam. Not the advice you were probably wanting. You could also always call the doctor’s office and ask for a copy of your last prescription. If it’s mild and the same in both eyes you could get readers from the drug store.

Take your existing bins to an opticians and say you want another pair, they'll know what strength they are and sell you a new pair

Get the new vision test then buy your glasses online for 10% of what they charge you in the store.

my plan was to get a pair online for about 30-40ish, but i need to find my prescription info. i think its 1.0 or -1.0? but still useless without the diameter and distance apart info

update: i managed to find a scan i did of the prescription in my file server. says it expires this december but i should be able to order online with this

I’ve been using online prescription sites for a few years and haven’t done an exam in about 5. The only good thing about saving my data is that they emailed me the prescription when they sent the glasses and now I can just use that to reorder new ones.

If I may ask, what‘s your experience regarding the fit of the glasses? I for myself am always grateful if a shop assistant can adjust the fit and from what I know, that isn‘t possible for online orders. Any recommendations or hints? Thx in advance 🙏🏼

Never had an issue with it. I’ve gotten sunglasses and regular frames etc

OK, good to hear. Thx 🙏🏼
