such a perfect way to both alert people to the fact that their devices bristling with surveillance sensors are vulnerable, AND triggering people about the political correctness of a system that increasingly is surveilling people

I lol'd at the top bit about how the Chinese treat "poc" s - which I had to look up. I had a friend in China who was a black South African, and he got a new job and moved to a new city, and when he went to work, they wouldn't let him in and they called the cops on him and fired him - just for being black. Apparently they hadn't done a webcam interview, which is standard for Asians, even here in the US...
roombas are terrifying.
Once i woke up at midnight at a friends house as as a roomba swept up and down outside my room door, trying to get it in. I didn't knoww it was a roomba at the time.
it would scan it's little light under the door and sweep it across the room as I was paralyzed in bed.
yeah, people really don't consider the danger of bugs in software with a big heavy motor attached to it
