my cat came when i put out food. i found out yesterday that he was a kitten that the people up the hill next door to me were feeding.

he was very sick when i got him, ear infection, gingevitis, ear and eye mites, and some kind of upper lung congestion. i took him to the vet and they did surgery on his mouth and gave me medicine which cured everything except for the lung congestion and ear mites. i think he has asthma, in fact, but he didn't start coughing regularly until after his visits to the vet.

supposedly i can fix the ear mites by cleaning his ears regularly but i have tried to do this a bit and it doesn't seem to stop them. i think that the ear mites and lung congestion will be reduced if i just take him with me to a drier, higher altitude place than the seaside location i'm in.

anyway, i hope you find a way to give your beast relief, i presume you mean that dog i've seen in photos.

for us lonely folk, a pet is essential, and will get all the spends that we might have directed towards family things. so, i consider the animal lucky, but i sure will make certain when i do have family to care for that they get more than the pet. but the pet will still be taken care of.

My previous pets were rabbits, all rescues and ear mites was a constant battle. I had success with just rubbing olive oil every few hours for a week or so. It suffocates the mites. And most animals can tolerate it well enough but be mindful of how much oil they might be licking.

also, just sayin, but russian blue cats are low allergenic. when i was living in serbia and bulgaria since about 2020 i started to see them everywhere, i presume they were pets of ukrainian refugees from the eastern regions.

they are a very nice breed of cat. if you ever get the chance to get one, forget about the "it must have green eyes" if the fur is pure silver they have all the benefits: they don't stop playing until they are about 4 years old, they are robust health, and their fur is less allergenic.

They sound lovely I will keep my eye out 👀🥰

yeah, probably just watch out for them on the streets. if there is ukrainian refugees around there is a good chance if they can, they will bring their cats with them. the breed originates from an island in northeast russia near finland, called "archangelansk" and they really are angelic cats.

i saw them appearing and proliferating in several cities in bulgaria and serbia. they do very well, very superior genetics, robust, strong cats, and bold as brass.

they are probably the premiere cat breed for ball games. they will chase after anything you throw in their sight. it's hilarious. usually they will bring it back to you fairly soon after and you can steal it from them and do it again.

when i was living in serbia, we had one around for a while, he got called "putsi" and every so often he would race into the computer lab and hide behind my colleague's monitor. there was a nasty incident in which he got a massive slash beside his tail, which we presumed was because he is so daring he jumped and slipped and fell on a pane of broken glass, and that he raced in to escape who we think was his daddy. there was also a cute female one up the street around the corner who had a litter at one point near that time, she was a classic queen.

eventually he disappeared, but we were pretty sure that a neighbour adopted him for whatever reason, and at one point we both saw him about 5 doors down. but we didn't bother with it. my colleague was not really that serious about cats, he just let them run about and fed them. this little russian blue he just kinda showed up and hung around and then disappeared again.

with cats you kinda have to get attached to them or they will just wander off. i mean, sure, you feed them, they will show up for that, but you have to smooch with them or they don't get attached to you, and even if you do that, things can happen and they will just decide that the next door tom is too much of a problem and go find their own range. neutering and confining them indoors is pretty much essential especially if there is any strays in your area.

I like cats well enough but they often give me attitude I don't get from dogs and bunnies 😅 it's probably good for me

yeah, cats are very rebellious, and their agile bodies make them quite free to just say "kthxbye" if you disagree with them. but they are really nice if you are gentle. female cats are easier to deal with, they get more attached to the place and will just hang around because of that, where male cats may decide that your place is a bad place because of other cats around, or if you try to do things they don't want. like give them medicine, or put harness on them and keep them indoors.

my cat, i healed him a lot since i got him, and he is super smoochy, almost annoying sometimes. he must have the lap when he asks for it, but he doesn't just jump up and take it, he mews at me for like 30 second before he leaps up, but if i don't shoo him away he does it anyway. he sometimes annoys me in the bedroom by cleaning himself full on right next to me while i have insomnia, and i just shoo him away and that's ok but i usually have to chase him all the way out of the room.

they are different to dogs, they don't need the social contact, their relationship to their keepers is more like you are their forever mommy. mine, he obviously got kicked out too early by his mother and he's a bit weird. also has very good manners. i have noticed before that cats with predominantly black but white also tend to be very well mannered. this one is extreme, he's a total gentleman. for a cat.
