I'm going to write something politically incorrect (and long).

I've been on #nostr since October 2022, thanks to the fantastic podcast where #[1]โ€‹ interviewed #[2]โ€‹ I discovered this wonderful rabbit hole that has me in love.

As I guess some of you know I've been developing nostrcheck.me since last month, doing my best to offer a reliable, friendly, easy for everyone and open service.

But above all this, in all aspects of my life I have always tried to be honest, treat everyone as they deserve, respecting them and always taking the time to deal with all the questions that have come to me (via DM's, etc.). Regardless of who is speaking to me or from where or even how they ask me.

Today I was moved to see a post from a guy who is trying to create and develop on nostr and has not found any support beyond mine. This guy wrote me by DM to show me his code (to me!), I tried to review it and give him an answer to the best of my knowledge and possibilities. Surely this guy also sent DM's to other developers and probably (I can't know) they didn't answer him.

I will confess one thing, naively I did the same, I sent some DM's to known people in this network hoping for some help or feedback, but (with some nice exceptions) almost nobody answered me. Nothing.

Don't get me wrong, #nostr is wonderful, the people I have met here are wonderful, but there are a few who (I think) should rethink their relationship with the rest.

Just yesterday I had a fantastic conversation with another developer, where the phrase "centralized cartel of providers" came up. I think we all have to be very careful not to leave all this great technology in the hands of a few.

Let's help each other, let's support each other, the enemy is not inside, he is outside and when he comes we have to be prepared.

Happy Friday to all ๐Ÿ’œ

In fact, that's basically what I've been talking about. To treat each other well :)

#[4]โ€‹ thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good message, friend! On one hand I understand the developers who chose to ignore, but I also understand how important it is to provide help when somasks you. It is a very complex situation that cannot be solved overnight, but reminders like these help! Thank you! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Thank you #[4]โ€‹ ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

I don't know the amount of DM's or interactions that others may receive, but without naming anyone, I can assure you that there are some important developers who have always answered me when I have needed it, that tells me that it is simply a question of whether they want to do it or not. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Understandable! There are some, I am sure, who do it because they can. At the same time, there are some who might not have โ€œcapacityโ€ to give attention. I am just convinced that inherently people are not malicious or mean bad (bar few exceptions), otherwise we wouldnโ€™t survive as species! It hard, I know! Iโ€™ve been on both sides! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿซก

I'm convinced of that too :) It's a simple thought, especially moved by the guy I commented on. ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜€

Hence reminders like yours are important! We need them, I need them! I chose to be nice, I need to remind myself to be nice! Why? Because I am human (dog is resting now and I borrowed his phone) and I make mistakes, I forget, I fail! We are here to help each other, and I think we are doing a damn good job! If anything, I am proud of you all! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’•

My dms are bombed with spam so unless I "know" them it goes to the main folder which I don't check. I'm not sure what constitutes "known" maybe following each other, but this may be a reason

Maybe can be a reason, itโ€™s true ๐Ÿ˜€

Every now and then one reads something that restores a bit of faith in humanity.

Nice to meet you #[4]โ€‹

And thank you for your reply ๐Ÿ˜€

Pleasure is also mine. Thank you for the hard work you are pouring into this community.

This is wonderful and true. I appreciate every interaction. We are here to learn and support each other.

Nostr still needs to grow to be an essential tool for users.

I am not a developer or btc expert, but really enjoying the platform, and Iโ€™m sure it will grow to Mainstream.

I think exactly the same. Nice to meet you ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks Quentin!

Yes, please share code, advice and help - whoever reads this. We are still in the survive or die phase and all play for the same team! ๐Ÿค—

You are absolutely right, we are in the same boat and #nostr is still too fragile. Thank you for replying #[4]โ€‹ ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

#ipfs is possible option for #nostr #relay server #storage part ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿฅบ

A lot of services are working just on that question ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks for your replyโ€™s #[5]

i am not that deep qualified expert but I had once p2p type disk allocation for #ipfs node linux - what i point out is if can rope in many layman users - if we make something non intrusive n tap in to NON-utilized diskspace of many home users (no office no datacenter) with/without incentive - it can vastly improve #nostr #DB - (just chaindb blocks of btc)

If you want we can talk by DM. I have some similar ideas ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿซ‚

I wish I was a developer. Ever since joining Nostr I have had a lot of developer FOMO.

Thank you #[4]โ€‹, you are welcome at nostrcheck.me if you want ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Are you sure? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

#shared op cost or partial #ad based and/or #subscription - combination - can certainly beat #centralized #bigtech profit makers middlemen in web3 #distributed #computing

Thank you for writing this. I am brand new to nostr and Bitcoin tech. People on #nostr have been very helpful in getting me set up and going and have always been willing to help.

You are welcome #[4]โ€‹ and nice to meet you ๐Ÿ˜€

๐Ÿค™Nice to meet you too. Todayโ€™s rabbit hole will be brought to me by one of the great devs here. Itโ€™s never ending.

Todays rabbit hole was brought to me by a loose SD card in my umbrel. Back up tho๐Ÿ”ฅ

Your message is resonating with a lot of people.
