I know nothing about this. Why did they?

The Protestant Reformers abandoned the Greek Septuagint in favor of the rabbinic textual tradition primarily due to theological disagreements with doctrines associated with the Deuterocanonical books, which were present in the Septuagint but absent from the Hebrew canon accepted by Rabbinic Judaism. These books were used by the Catholic Church to support teachings such as purgatory, prayers for the dead, and merit through works—doctrines the Reformers rejected. As a reaction to these practices, the Reformers sought to return to what they viewed as the original, authentic sources of Scripture, turning to the Hebrew Masoretic Text, which aligned with the Jewish canon established by post-Christian Rabbinic Judaism

So then is there a difference with Catholicism today from a teachings standpoint of the books? I know nothing about Catholic church except really long weddings and funerals

No idea, that was a copy paste pseudo intellectual attempt by me 😉

I figured it was copy from a quick search and that's okay. I'm just not well versed in it and was just posing a question. Thanks for teaching by me something new though
