Groups are always divisible & expendable abstractions. Only the individual is prime.
People should be free of human coercion so long as they respect others in the same manner. No one has a right to be free from disagreement, or hate, or difficulty, or competition, or struggle. All criminal acts (no matter how you dress them up) stem from the initiation of force or fraud, everything else is just life.
If the individual is prime then children should be on their own, the sick would be discarded and the old would be left to die without sharing their wisdom. The family is what is "prime".
Families too can & should be dissolved when they become abusive to individuals. It is whether or not groups serve the individuals which form them that determines whether said group should exist or not. Families & groups of all kinds should not exist at the expense of anyone. You are not a slave to your family. It is slavery vs loving & caring for people; these things are mutually exclusive.
Pretending any group is more important than the individuals that make up the group would mean that anyone can be destroyed if it serves the group.
You can't divide an individual, but you can always divide & reform groups around individuals. Individuals are prime.
Individuals are incomplete. It's true you can leave and reconfigure your family if it's dysfunctional and abusive, but most humans cannot and should not operate solo for extended periods. A young and strong individual can succeed alone but that individual is like a seed who must eventually build or join a family or community or some other type of group around themselves.
