I left insta when the popular designers were getting mad at the people trying to start out taking yarn for compensation and they weren't getting offered payment anymore.

I also have a bigger stash than I need because when I was starting out, I'd stock up on sale stuff not really knowing what I needed or having a plan πŸ™„. I think I'm going to just start making striped blankets with it, it's all better acrylic (simply soft, heartland, red heart with love, etc...) but it's not enough of any one color for a bigger project.

I made a C2C crochet blanket with all of my worsted that I would never use. Some are better acrylics. Some of my early handspun too. Some thinner yarns I held together to get close to the right weight.

When you mix enough colors together, it starts to look alright.

Intentional chaos

I wanna do a C2C something someday πŸ€”

C2C is so relaxing and chill. You can do it in any yarn. Bulky queen blanket, sure. Toddler throw in DK, of course.

The standard pattern uses double crochet, but you can do half dcs if you want too.

here's another I did that was a solid and a contrast color on stripes. I cut and knotted at the end of every row for the color change which was really annoying but it has held up really well for the last *checks timestamp* 6 years.

Yass I love having a solid contrasting with color changing like this too…

When I realized that insta was all about "tag your friend to be a tester for my upcoming pattern" I noped out of there. And then they have a list of rules and requirements for testers too (you have to post 1 well photographed and edited progress pic a week, you have to make a ravelry project page for it, you have to post about your project when the pattern releases)

Pattern testers ought to be compensated with MONEY and not have to faff about with being junior marketing associates.

And then, some designers don't even tech edit their patterns before asking for testers and expect their test knitters to be tech editors too.

I could go on but you know what I mean...

Yep. I wish there were more yarn people here, and then I remember stuff like this going on. No algo would help with a lot of it.

Most people here when you say β€œyarn” probably picture this little mascot critter created by Shitty Watercolour.

πŸ˜‚ it's adorable and if I can keep visually assaulting people with yarn stuffs I'm good.

You’re good, don’t stop being you! 🧢
