Because you print dollars. The US dollar is a debt instrument that you (Americans) sell to the world. We give you our money as a loan and you give us dollars at a predetermined rate back to us.

You are then indebted to every single bond holder, from the Banks of China and Europe to the retail bond holder or USDT holder.

That means, because the dollar is off a gold standard, that we are earning a sum total of potential from the American consensus and not it's weight in gold. We're giving you money and you're giving us a promise to uphold that dollar.

But you're slacking. So we're not holding bonds any more.

That's why it feels the way it does.

Facts, the fiat system is flawed, but it’s wild that the flaws always fall hardest on the people doing the actual labor.

It's abused for sure, but keyenisan modelling allows for nuance and locale based data to guide decision making.

Just because the US fucks up, it doesn't mean that it's failure for everyone.

In fact moving off the gold standard is what allowed the US to expand and grow very rapidly, because the potential capital of the people was worth more than gold and ever expansive (borrowing from the future)

Other countries still hold a ton of bonds.

But I agree that with the reckless behavior of the US government both fiscally and monetarily there will be a crisis at some point. And maybe not far off.
