Hot tip 🌶️:

There is an awesome little app called "Handbrake" for converting video that I've used for years and its incredible. Whenever you do screen captures or have a large .mov file, do a simple mp4/h264 conversion with Handbrake and seletc "web optimized" and you can cut down like 80% of the filesize.

Example: I jsut recorded a 35 second capture to troubleshoot something, did a quick convert, and turned a 65MB capture into a 2MB video before posting.

Save nostr.build... manage your filesizes 👏🏻

I’d forgotten about Handbrake. Good to know they’re still kicking.

Handbrake is awesome. I do this occasionally with Resolve as well, but Handbrake is more intuitive.

It always astounds me how huge the mov files Final Cut Pro (Mac) produce are. Handbrake takes them down to a fraction of the size.

handbrake so good

I needed this! Thanks!

can you automagically add handbrake to the upload media flow?

ffmpeg is a cli alternative. From memory, handbrake uses that for the work performed.

Interesting! I didn't know this.

I have a bunch of little scripts I've written that utilize ffmpeg, its perfect for building macros and things, especially when converting or editing entire folders of GIF or WEBP and the like. Didn't know Handbrake used that. Thats cool

ffmpeg is quite good at a bunch of esoteric things as well. Like time lapse speed up.

handbrake is a LIFESAVER 👏
