Why is it when I create a nip-29 closed group the messages are still visible to any random npub on Chachi? Why does it flip to public open when that was not what was selected upon creation? Why display edit options to chage the group configurations when they constantly flip back to public?

What's sad is I've recomended your client to a lot of folks and from what I can tell the only way to get a private closed group to work is by running you own relay for it. That key step is missing an explaination! At least Flotilla points to relay.tools to support the user. You've got no tutorial that I can find and your average user is going to assume everything is private when it is not. Trust broken!

This is the option that appears when creating a group. Private groups are encrypted, while open/closed groups are not encrypted. However, with closed groups, only group members can pull messages.

Additionally, in the next version, I will make sure to clarify the content encryption options when creating groups to prevent any misunderstandings.

Yeah, the Close Groups is what I'm highlighting as the issues. fyi, I discovered this issue while browsing Chachi groups and realizing I was reading other folks private messages. Went and tested this on my closed groups with a randomly generated npub and confirmed I could not only read but also join and write.

Regarding NIP-29 closed groups, the content is not encrypted. For encrypted private groups, you can select the "Private Group" option to ensure your messages are protected.

When selecting Closed Group the user expectation is that this group will be Closed Hidden when in reality it defaults to Open Visible. There is extra info and steps the user needs to do to set this up (like hosting a relay) and these are not spelled out when they should be.

Checking this out... Do all group members need to be on the Testflight for it to work? Was able to update groups successfully now but seems like new messages aren't syncing. 🤔

Oddly, notifications of new messages work but the messages themself are absent from the group chat

Is it a nip29 group? Other non-admin members don’t need to update the app.

Also, are you referring to the group’s historical messages not loading?

Yes, NIP29. Historic message load. New messages posted are only showing to the memeber posting them

Cool! Message error is gone now but each member still only sees their messages. We can see notification come through of others messages but they only appear in that members app and not for all group members.
