Regarding NIP-29 closed groups, the content is not encrypted. For encrypted private groups, you can select the "Private Group" option to ensure your messages are protected.

Why is it when I create a nip-29 closed group the messages are still visible to any random npub on Chachi? Why does it flip to public open when that was not what was selected upon creation? Why display edit options to chage the group configurations when they constantly flip back to public?

When selecting Closed Group the user expectation is that this group will be Closed Hidden when in reality it defaults to Open Visible. There is extra info and steps the user needs to do to set this up (like hosting a relay) and these are not spelled out when they should be.
I think this issue started after I updated the new NIP-29 relay implementation — I’ll look into it. Thanks for pointing it out!

Checking this out... Do all group members need to be on the Testflight for it to work? Was able to update groups successfully now but seems like new messages aren't syncing. 🤔
Oddly, notifications of new messages work but the messages themself are absent from the group chat
Is it a nip29 group? Other non-admin members don’t need to update the app.
Also, are you referring to the group’s historical messages not loading?
Yes, NIP29. Historic message load. New messages posted are only showing to the memeber posting them

Just confirmed one member hasn't received new messages since the 27th so some historic may be impacted as well
