"I lost followers" is incorrect. You didn’t lose them. You are just not connected to the relays where they follow you. If you connect again they will be right there unless the relay operator shuts the relay down.

Wouldnt it be better if the relays sync between each other? Or why has it be designed that way?

Cause this isn’t mastodon, relays are not federated today. Depending on relays to do this for you is convenient but disastrous for freedom of speech.

Users are the ones in power and responsible for posting to each relay they post to, at least initially.

Which event kind is for following?

Would it be possible for clients to warn users that people they follow are not seen on the relay they are connected to, and maybe proposed a common relay (or even add it automatically) ? This could maybe almost solve this issue of followers ā€œvanishingā€ ?

New client should solve relay discovery. It's a difficult topic but it's necessary

Easier said that done

I actually like this, it's permanent discovery territory. A feature not a bug.

Keep you on your toes!

Snort.social was down for 24h or so that caused everyone to perceive a loss of followers. It’s a garbage number on nostr to be honest and we don’t know how well each client is aggregating the number from your connected relays.
