well, ya the whole reason i run arch is, its as close to upstream as can get. so when i file a wayland bug, easy for upstream to repro and not get stuck in LTS hell, 🎇 gets fixed in a week or so. generally, its been very stable for me

yeah, i have run arch and manjaro at several times but i'm done with it

i'm just turning off the automatic naggy shit

i'll update when i run into a bug with an app

i don't run servers out of my own pc that i didn't write, and i keep my language and its libraries well up to date

so what vulnerabilities are there?

browser... maybe need to check for browser version updates

discord and telegram manage that shit themselves

what else is there on a desktop machine that are actual security issues?

if it's a function issue, then the motivation is clear but security issues depend on actual remote access vulnerability, and that's almost nothing on a desktop machine

yeah, i'm over it, i can't just switch over in an hour to a rolling release from where i am right now and i am getting regular bullshits from updates and i just don't want to know there is an update at all, unless i fucking ask, at this point
