Good morning, #nostriches!

I've decided to give EndeavourOS a go, so, I'll be part of the arch elite soon. 🀣🀣🀣

I'm going to have a bunch of questions about partitioning a drive, though, so y'all better get ready. πŸ˜πŸ˜…πŸ˜Ž

arch or endeavour?

Endeavour. The install babysitting is appealing to me as a newb.

I didn't know

I should try that

Endeavor and manjaro both offer GUI installers for arch.

Any particular reason you chose endeavor nostr:nprofile1qqsqdzwltpr635ehdzfd52tz947qlhq77x2c7j7yguwep9n258k2nusprdmhxue69uhhw6r9v96zu6rpwpc8jarpwejhym3wvdhj7qgkwaehxw309aex2ctv0yhx6mr9dd6juer9wchszxmhwden5te0w35x2en0wfjhxapwdehhxarjxyhxxmmd9ujsf6xu I can't see any difference in the marketing except default color theme.

I've used both. manjaro has "nice" bloat and I want to like it... but it doesn't use the official arch repos, it uses its own. the manjaro repos lag behind the arch repos. this creates a problem when you want to install an AUR package that depends on stuff from the arch repo. sometimes you can't install or update your AUR package, sometimes it breaks. AUR is one of the most compelling features of arch and if it's not safe on manjaro then I have to use endeavour.

Neat, thanks for the info. I guess I'm changing colors next time I lean that way because I definitely rely on edge case software regularly.

What was the reason for choosing this distribution over others like Fedora Silverblue or Debian? (Arch Architecture, Gaming,…)

The install process is very straightforward. It looks good out of the box. It still does not install a ton of stuff that I don't need.

I want to explore the arch flavor of Linux, and this seems like the most straightforward way to do so for me at my current level of Linux ability.

GM and just switching to pop is on my list

I have been using Pop for a couple of years. It's been fine. But it is not liking my hardware at this point. I also really can't stand the way updates are handled.

I use Macs OS for over a decade so it's going to be weird to me. Someone told me it's the easiest Linux to use because it just works lol

It does until doesn't. The biggest issue I have with it is how updates are handled. I really don't care for the changes made over a year ago.

I have low technical prowess which is why I've stuck with Mac. I need something simple and beginner friendly because I don't have the time to invest right now in deep diving into this stuff. So I'm looking for ease of use and something I can incrementally learn as I go

It's a good place to start if it will run on your hardware.
