Ending my foray into film talk on nostr, I hope Nolan nails this. I thought Oppenheimer was his worst and he's lost some edge.

didn’t know you talked film.
Not successfully
well then let’s do it together. i’ve been a cinematographer for 14 years.
I'm basically playing t ball and you're a professional in the mlb but what do you have in mind
are you doing film breakdowns? filmmaker, story, or execution oriented?
we could pick a film, analyze the themes, scenes, characters, figure out how it was filmed to enhance those themes, and learn more about the filmmakers backstory. Team Deakins is a cool podcast that does this in a podcast format but it could be done with highlighter, podcast, or any long form platform. just a thought.
I'll sleep on it, there may be something here. You can be the pro and I can be the idiot. Would be fun but also good
This could go crazy though 👀
Imagine the Hanz Zimmer songs for this too!
You imagine, has epic written all over it
Not Tenet?
Tenet was pretty horrible
Tenet also bad, I just thought this one was bad but also uninteresting. Probably would have been fine from a different director but from Nolan I expect boundary pushing and concepts that keep me thinking. Tenet had some of that
Interesting. July 2026 release date
There’s also a 2024 movie called the return directed by uberto pasolini with ralph fiennes and juliette binoche. It’s about the last sections of the odyssey. Didn’t see it yet but on my list.
If the dialogue isn't in dactylic hexameter I'm out like the rosy finger of dawn.
He better have at least nods to this
DEI casting, die!
